About Pradeep Sumanlal Parikh

Pradeep Sumanlal Parikh, also known as “Pete” or “Mr. Pete” or “Kumar”, was born on July 24, 1955 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania where he resided with his father, Sumanlal Parikh, his mother, Pramila Parikh, his younger brother, Niteen Parikh, and his younger sister, Dipti Parikh. During his time in Africa, he met some of his bestest friends that eventually became family and now live just a few miles apart from each other in the US.

Pradeep Parikh started his global travel at a very young age. Having moved to India for his education and thereafter moving to the UK with his family before making their final destination the United States. They landed on the East Coast in 1973 for a brief moment and then made their way to Southern California in 1974. The family settled in the Orange County suburb of Brea where they reside to this day.

A little while after, in 1978, he met the beautiful, Yamini Parikh and created a family with two kids, Gaurav Parikh and Nisha Parikh. His family grew even more in 2016, bringing in an amazing daughter-in-law, Stephanie Teller-Parikh, and soon-to-be granddaughter Parikh (expected September 2020).

Pradeep was know for his kindness, his generosity, his strength, and most importantly his resilience to persevere no matter what life threw at him. He always, and we mean always, had a passion for life and a zest for creating beautiful memories with his loved ones - or creating new ones with strangers he’s met through his day.

If you ask anyone who knows Pradeep to tell you a story about him, they’ll probably end up telling you one in which he: helped them in a way not many would, created a delish cuisine, always opened his home to others, gave them confidence to keep pushing through no matter what life served, or brought joy and life to every setting he was in. Pradeep was cherished by everyone, even the doctors that managed his care in the last couple years, making him apart of their family and calling him “Uncle” during every conversation and interaction.

He leaves his legacy with his wife (Yamini), his three children (Gaurav, Stephanie, and Nisha), his granddaughter, his mother (Pramila), his brothers (Niteen and Elesh), and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family members.

He was the heart of the Parikh family, believing in love, compromise, and kindness and we commit to continuing his legacy through his selfless actions and full hearts.
